Editorial Policy

Last updated: 7 October 2026.

Who is responsible

Tools Directory Editorial Team is the editorial owner of Tools Directory and is responsible for what is published here, including the tools, the explanatory copy on each tool page, and the articles.

Accuracy and limits

Tools are provided for general information. They implement standard published methods where such methods exist, and each page names the method it uses. Health, money and legal tools cite their sources from official and standards bodies, so you can check a result rather than taking our word for it. Tools are not a substitute for professional advice:

  • Financial tools do not constitute financial advice, and we are not licensed financial advisers.
  • Health tools produce estimates from population-level formulas. They do not diagnose, treat, or replace a clinician.
  • Legal and tax tools produce general-purpose documents and estimates that vary by jurisdiction, and are not legal or tax advice.

Corrections

Each tool has a “Report it” link under its result. Reported errors are checked against the tool’s method and its sources. Where a tool is wrong, it is fixed and the corrected version replaces the original. Where a tool is right but unclear, the explanatory copy is rewritten. We do not silently delete pages to hide errors.

To report one, use the contact page. Include the address of the tool, the values you entered, the result you got and the result you expected — that is enough to reproduce it. Reported calculation errors are looked at before anything else on the roadmap.

Review

Tool pages are revisited when the method they implement changes, when a reader reports a problem, or when the underlying published standard is updated. A tool whose method is superseded is corrected or withdrawn rather than left in place.

Advertising

This site carries advertising. Advertisers have no input into which tools are built, what a tool computes, or what its page says. Ad slots are fixed positions in the page template; they are not woven into editorial copy, and nothing on this site is sponsored content.

Some tool pages show one recommendation below the result, labelled “Affiliate”. If you buy through it we may earn a commission, at no cost to you. A recommendation is chosen for the subject of the page, is never placed inside a tool’s result or its explanation, and its link is marked as sponsored so search engines do not treat it as an endorsement.

Content scope

We do not publish interest-bearing financial tools — see About.
