The short version
The tools on this site run in your browser. The text you paste and the files you choose are processed on your own device and are not uploaded to us. We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not sell personal data.
Who we are
Tools Directory is operated by Tools Directory Editorial Team, who is responsible for the personal data described on this page. To reach us about anything here, use the contact page and choose “Privacy or data request”, or email tools@milunir.com.
What the tools do with your input
Calculator inputs, pasted text, and files opened in a tool are handled entirely in your browser. They are not transmitted to our servers and we never see them.
What is kept in your own browser
To make the tools quicker to come back to, your browser — not our server — keeps a few things in its local storage: the last values you used in each tool (pasted text is never kept), the tools you starred and the ones you used recently, and whether you dismissed the “install” suggestion. If you add the site to your home screen, the tool pages you open are also cached on your device so they work offline. None of this is sent to us. Clearing your browser’s data for this site removes all of it.
Currency converters show exchange rates that our server downloads once a day from ExchangeRate-API; your browser fetches them from us, never from a third party.
Problem reports
If you use a tool’s “Report it” link, we store the tool, the reason you chose, the note you wrote (if any) and the numbers or options you had entered, never text you pasted. To stop abuse we keep a one-way scrambled form of your IP address, which changes every day and cannot be turned back into the address. Reports are deleted once the problem is dealt with.
What is collected automatically
- Server logs. Our host records standard request data — IP address, browser user agent, the page requested and the time — as part of serving and securing the site.
- Analytics. Where analytics are enabled, they record aggregate usage such as which pages are visited and from where. Analytics are not used to build profiles of individual users.
The contact form
If you send us a message, we store what you typed — your name, your email address, the topic you chose and the message itself — along with the page you sent it from, the time, and the IP address and browser the request came from. That last part is kept to trace abuse of the form.
We use it for one thing: reading your message and replying to it. It is stored in this site’s own database, not with a third-party form service, and it is never used for marketing, never added to a mailing list, and never passed to anyone else. Ask us and we will delete it.
Spam and sign-in protection (reCAPTCHA)
The contact form and the site’s sign-in page are protected by Google reCAPTCHA, which tells people apart from automated spam. When you use the contact form, Google’s reCAPTCHA script loads and sends Google information about your browser and how the page is used — such as your IP address, browser and device details, and cookies Google has already set — so it can score whether the visit looks automated. Google uses that information to provide and improve reCAPTCHA. The tools themselves never load reCAPTCHA.
Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply to it. If the check is unsure, you are asked to tick a box instead of being turned away.
Advertising and cookies
This site carries advertising supplied by Google AdSense. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site, and its use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visits here and to other sites. In some regions this may include personalised advertising based on your prior browsing.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google’s Ad Settings.
- You can opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies at aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.com.
- Google’s own terms are set out in its policy on how it uses data from sites that use its services.
- You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The tools themselves keep working with cookies blocked.
Where consent is legally required, ads are served in a non-personalised mode, and analytics run without cookies, until consent is given. You can change your choice at any time from Cookie settings.
Third parties
We share personal data with no one except the service providers needed to run the site — our hosting provider, our email provider, our advertising provider and Google reCAPTCHA for spam protection — each acting under their own privacy terms. We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioural advertising as those terms are used in US state privacy laws.
Why we are allowed to hold it
Where UK or EU data protection law applies, server logs and the anti-abuse data attached to a contact form message, and the reCAPTCHA check on the form and sign-in page, rest on our legitimate interest in keeping the site running and secure; the message you send us rests on your own decision to send it. Advertising cookies rest on your consent where consent is required.
How long it is kept
- Server logs are kept for as long as our host retains them, typically a few weeks.
- Contact form messages are kept while they are useful — an unresolved bug report stays until the bug is fixed — and deleted on request.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data we hold about you, to receive a copy of it, and to object to certain processing. Because we do not operate user accounts, the data we hold is generally limited to server logs and any message you have sent us.
Use the contact page to make a request. We do not charge for this and we do not treat you differently for asking. If you are in the UK or the EU and you are unhappy with how we have handled a request, you can complain to your national data protection authority.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal data through the contact form, tell us and we will delete it.
Security
Messages sent through the contact form are stored in this site’s database behind an administrator login. No system is perfectly secure, so please do not send us passwords, payment details, government identifiers or health records — we never need them.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, the date at the top of this page will change with it.
