Paste your text, pick a style and the converted version appears straight away. Sentence case turns "THE MEETING IS MOVED. PLEASE REPLY TODAY!" into "The meeting is moved. Please reply today!", and snakecase turns "Hello World Example" into helloworld_example. A table previews the same text in all ten styles.

About this tool

Text typed with caps lock on, headings that need consistent capitals, and variable names that must follow a code style all come down to the same chore: re-casing letters by hand. This converter handles ten styles. Four are for prose (upper, lower, title and sentence case), five are for code identifiers (camelCase, PascalCase, snakecase, kebab-case and CONSTANTCASE), and one is the alternating meme style. Accented and non-Latin letters are converted with Unicode rules, so café becomes CAFÉ. One limit: title case here capitalises every word, including short ones like of and the, so a headline that follows AP or Chicago rules needs those small words lowered by hand.

How to use it

  1. Add your text

Type in the box, paste from another app, or open a .txt file from your device.

  2. Choose a style

Pick one of the ten styles from the Convert to menu; the result updates at once.

  3. Compare styles

The table shows the first 60 characters in every style, so you can see which fits before switching.

  4. Copy the result

Use Copy result to take the converted text into your document or code editor.

Examples

A phrase to snake_case

Your text
Hello World Example
Convert to
snake_case

Result Converted text: hello_world_example
Style: snake_case
Words: 3
Characters in result: 19
Letters changed: 5

  1. Style chosen: snake_case.
  2. The text is split into words (punctuation and existing camelCase humps are word breaks), then the words are rejoined.

Three words are lowered and joined with underscores, the PEP 8 style for Python function names.

Field name to camelCase

Your text
user account id
Convert to
camelCase

Result Converted text: userAccountId
Style: camelCase
Words: 3
Characters in result: 13
Letters changed: —

  1. Style chosen: camelCase.
  2. The text is split into words (punctuation and existing camelCase humps are word breaks), then the words are rejoined.

The first word stays lower case and each following word starts with a capital, the usual JavaScript variable style.

Fixing caps-lock text

Your text
THE MEETING IS MOVED. PLEASE REPLY TODAY!
Convert to
Sentence case

Result Converted text: The meeting is moved. Please reply today!
Style: Sentence case
Words: 7
Characters in result: 41
Letters changed: 31

  1. Style chosen: Sentence case.
  2. Letters are re-cased with Unicode rules; spacing and punctuation stay where they were.

Everything is lowered, then the first letter of each sentence is capitalised again.

How it is calculated

prose styles re-case letters in place; code styles split into words, then rejoin with a capital, _ or -

word
a run of Unicode letters or digits; punctuation, spaces and lower-to-upper humps such as myVariable are word breaks
separator
nothing for camelCase and PascalCase, an underscore for snake_case and CONSTANT_CASE, a hyphen for kebab-case

Upper and lower case use the browser's Unicode case mapping, so accented and Greek or Cyrillic letters change correctly. Title case lowers everything, then capitalises the first letter of each word. Sentence case capitalises the first letter of the text and any letter after a full stop, question mark, exclamation mark or line break. Code styles first break the text into words, dropping punctuation, then join them with the style's separator.

When not to use it

  • Headlines that must follow AP or Chicago title rules, which keep short words like of and and in lower case.
  • Proper nouns in sentence case, such as London or NASA, which are lowered and must be fixed by hand.

Common mistakes

  • Converting code that already mixes styles, then expecting acronyms like HTTPServer to split the way a human would.
  • Using kebab-case for a JavaScript variable name, where the hyphen is read as a minus sign.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between camelCase and PascalCase?

Both join words with no spaces and capitalise each word's first letter. camelCase keeps the very first letter lower case (userAccountId), while PascalCase capitalises it too (UserAccountId). JavaScript variables usually use camelCase; class names in most languages use PascalCase.

Does title case follow AP or Chicago style?

No. Every word gets a capital first letter, including articles and short prepositions. Style guides lower words such as a, of and the in the middle of a title, so check those words after converting.

Will sentence case keep names capitalised?

No. It lowers everything and then capitalises only the first letter of each sentence, so names, places and acronyms come out in lower case and need a quick manual pass.

Does it handle accented or non-Latin letters?

Yes. Case changes use Unicode mappings, so é becomes É and Greek or Cyrillic letters switch case correctly. Scripts without case, such as Arabic or Chinese, pass through unchanged.

Where is snake_case used?

Python uses it for function and variable names under PEP 8, and many databases use it for column names. CONSTANT_CASE, the upper-case version, is the usual style for constants and environment variables.

Is my text sent anywhere?

No. The conversion runs in your browser and nothing is stored after you leave the page, so code, drafts and private notes stay on your device.
