Type your text, set how many copies you want and pick what goes between them: a new line, a blank line, a space, a comma or nothing. The repeated text appears straight away with its length. Three copies of ab joined by spaces give ab ab ab, which is 8 characters.

About this tool

Developers filling a form field to test its length limit, teachers building a handwriting sheet, and testers who need a long block of sample data all reach for the same trick: copy, paste, repeat. This replicator does the repetition for you. Enter the text once, choose a count from 1 to 1,000 and a separator, and copy the result. Alongside it you see the total characters, words and lines, so you can confirm the block is exactly the size a field or test case needs. The output is capped at 200,000 characters to keep the page responsive; for larger files, a script is the better route.

How to use it

  1. Enter the text

Type or paste a word, sentence or paragraph, or open a .txt file from your device.

  2. Set the count

Use the minus and plus buttons or type a number of copies from 1 to 1,000.

  3. Choose a separator

Pick new line, blank line, space, comma or nothing to go between the copies.

  4. Copy the output

Check the character and word totals, then copy the repeated text into your document or field.

Examples

A word three times on one line

Text to repeat
ab
Number of copies
3
Put between copies
Space

Result Repeated text: ab ab ab
Copies: 3
Characters: 8
Words: 3
Lines: 1

  1. One copy is 2 characters and 1 words.
  2. Copies are joined with a space (1 characters each).
  3. Total = 3 × 2 + 2 × 1 = 8 characters.

Three copies of ab joined by single spaces give 8 characters: six letters and two spaces.

A phrase on four lines

Text to repeat
Hello world
Number of copies
4
Put between copies
New line

Result Repeated text: Hello world
Hello world
Hello world
Hello world
Copies: 4
Characters: 47
Words: 8
Lines: 4

  1. One copy is 11 characters and 2 words.
  2. Copies are joined with a line break (1 characters each).
  3. Total = 4 × 11 + 3 × 1 = 47 characters.

Each copy sits on its own line, so 4 copies of an 11-character phrase plus 3 line breaks make 47 characters.

A comma-separated list

Text to repeat
x
Number of copies
5
Put between copies
Comma

Result Repeated text: x, x, x, x, x
Copies: 5
Characters: 13
Words: 5
Lines: 1

  1. One copy is 1 characters and 1 words.
  2. Copies are joined with a comma and space (2 characters each).
  3. Total = 5 × 1 + 4 × 2 = 13 characters.

Five copies of x joined by a comma and a space, the format many spreadsheets and test inputs expect.

How it is calculated

characters = N × L + (N − 1) × S

N
number of copies
L
length of one copy in characters, counting emoji and accented letters as one each
S
separator length: 1 for a new line or space, 2 for a blank line or comma and space, 0 for nothing

The text is joined to itself N times with the separator placed only between copies, never after the last one, so there are N − 1 separators. Word totals are the words in one copy multiplied by N. Lines count every line break in the output, including any already inside your text.

When not to use it

  • For files larger than 200,000 characters, a short script or the command line handles the size better.
  • For realistic placeholder copy, a lorem ipsum generator gives varied text instead of identical lines.

Common mistakes

  • Leaving a trailing space or line break in the input, which then appears inside every copy.
  • Choosing New line when the target field strips line breaks, so the copies run together.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a separator after the last copy?

No. Separators go only between copies, so 5 copies joined by commas contain 4 commas. Add one by hand if your format needs a trailing separator.

What is the most text it can produce?

Up to 1,000 copies and 200,000 characters in total. If a request would go past that, the tool tells you the size it would reach so you can lower the count or shorten the text.

Can I repeat a whole paragraph with line breaks in it?

Yes. Line breaks inside your text are kept in every copy. Choosing Blank line as the separator leaves an empty line between paragraphs, which keeps them readable.

How are emoji and accented letters counted?

Each visible character counts once, so an emoji made of several code points, or an é written with a combining accent, adds one to the character total.

Why would I need repeated text?

Common uses are testing maximum lengths in forms and databases, filling a layout to see how it handles overflow, making practice sheets, and building simple lists for spreadsheets.

Is my text sent to a server?

No. The copies are built in your browser, and nothing you type is stored after you leave the page.
