Twenty-four hours make one mean solar day, the definition both NIST and the BIPM use for the non-SI day.
To convert hours to days, divide the number of hours by 24, because one day is defined as exactly 24 hours (86,400 seconds). For example, 60 hours ÷ 24 = 2.5 days, and 168 hours is exactly 7 days. The result is a decimal day count, so 0.5 means twelve hours.

| 20 | 0.833333 |
| 25 | 1.04167 |
| 50 | 2.08333 |
| 100 | 4.16667 |
| 250 | 10.4167 |
| 500 | 20.8333 |

Project logs, payroll systems, flight trackers and lab timers often total time in hours, yet plans and deadlines are discussed in days. This converter divides an hour count by 24 and shows the decimal number of days as you type, along with the working, so a figure like 290 hours turns into 12.08 days without a calculator. It treats a day as 24 hours of elapsed time, not as a working day: if your team counts an 8-hour day, divide by 8 instead. Daylight-saving changes, which make one calendar day 23 or 25 hours long, are also outside its scope. The swap button reverses the direction to turn days into hours.
Enter the total in the Hours field. Decimals work, so 7.5 hours is accepted as typed.
The decimal day count updates while you type, with the division by 24 shown underneath.

A 168-hour on-call rota is exactly seven days, a handy check when shift totals are logged in hours.

Thirty-six hours is one and a half days, the length of a common alternate-day fasting window.
days = hours ÷ 24
hoursdaysNIST SP 811 lists the day as a unit accepted for use with the SI, equal to 24 hours or 86,400 seconds. Both units are fixed multiples of the second, so the ratio is exactly 24 and the conversion is a single division with no offset. A fractional result can be read back as hours: 0.25 day is 6 hours, 0.75 day is 18 hours.
100 ÷ 24 = 4.1667 days, which is 4 days and 4 hours. The decimal 0.1667 multiplied by 24 gives back the 4 leftover hours.
Keep the whole number as days, then multiply the decimal part by 24. For 3.75 days, 0.75 × 24 = 18, so the answer is 3 days and 18 hours.
A week is 168 hours. An average Gregorian month is about 730.5 hours (30.44 days) and an average Gregorian year is 8,765.82 hours (365.2425 days). Calendar months vary from 672 to 744 hours.
As a unit, yes: NIST defines it as 86,400 seconds. On the clock, a day can be 23 or 25 hours when daylight saving starts or ends, and leap seconds very rarely add one second.
At 8 hours per working day, 40 hours is 5 work days. This converter divides by 24, so it would show 1.667 days of continuous time instead.
