Clicks per minute is the number of clicks divided by the test length in minutes. Enter the clicks you scored and how many seconds the test ran: 100 clicks in a 10-second test is 10 clicks per second, which scales to 600 clicks per minute, or one click every 100 milliseconds on average.

About this tool

Click-speed tests report scores in different units: one game shows a raw total for 5 seconds, another shows clicks per second, a forum post quotes CPM. This page puts them on one scale. Type the number of clicks a test recorded and the length of the window, and it returns clicks per minute, clicks per second, the average time between clicks in milliseconds and a rough pace label. Gamers comparing jitter-clicking scores, people checking a new mouse, and teachers running reaction-speed activities use it to compare runs of different lengths fairly. One limit: it does not time you itself. Short bursts scale up optimistically, because nobody holds a 5-second pace for a whole minute, so a 5-second score converted to CPM overstates real one-minute stamina.

How to use it

  1. Enter the clicks scored

Type the total clicks your test or counter reported.

  2. Enter the test length

Give the window length, for example 5, 10 or 60.

  3. Read the rates

Clicks per minute is the headline; clicks per second, the average gap and a pace label sit beside it, with the working underneath.

Examples

100 clicks in a 10-second test

Clicks counted
100
Test length
10

Result Clicks per minute: 600
Clicks per second: 10
Average gap between clicks (ms): 100
Pace: Very fast

  1. Clicks per second = 100 ÷ 10 s = 10
  2. Clicks per minute = 10 × 60 = 600
  3. Average gap between clicks = 1000 ÷ 10 = 100 ms

Ten clicks every second scales to 600 a minute, with a click landing every 100 milliseconds on average.

250 clicks over a full minute

Clicks counted
250
Test length
60

Result Clicks per minute: 250
Clicks per second: 4.17
Average gap between clicks (ms): 240
Pace: Casual pace

  1. Clicks per second = 250 ÷ 60 s = 4.17
  2. Clicks per minute = 4.1667 × 60 = 250
  3. Average gap between clicks = 1000 ÷ 4.1667 = 240 ms

Over 60 seconds the count already is the per-minute figure; it works out to just over four clicks a second.

How it is calculated

CPS = clicks ÷ t; CPM = CPS × 60; gap (ms) = 1000 ÷ CPS

clicks
total clicks registered in the window
t
length of the window, measured as seconds
CPS
clicks per second
CPM
clicks per minute

A click rate is a count divided by elapsed time. Dividing by seconds gives clicks per second, and multiplying by 60 rescales it to a minute. The average gap is the inverse of the per-second rate expressed in milliseconds. The pace labels are informal bands (under 300 CPM casual, 300 to 480 steady, 480 to 600 fast, 600 to 840 very fast, above that jitter or butterfly clicking), not an official ranking.

When not to use it

  • It cannot measure your clicking live; use a timed click test first and bring its score here.
  • It is not a reaction-time test, since the gap is an average over many clicks, not a response to a signal.
  • Do not treat a 5-second burst converted to CPM as proof of one-minute endurance.

Common mistakes

  • Entering the test length in minutes instead of seconds, which inflates the rate sixty times.
  • Counting double-click events as one click when the game counted two.
  • Comparing a 5-second CPS score directly with a 60-second score without accounting for fatigue.

Frequently asked questions

How do I turn clicks per second into clicks per minute?

Multiply by 60. A steady 8 clicks per second equals 480 clicks per minute. Going the other way, divide CPM by 60, so 300 CPM is 5 clicks per second.

What is a typical clicks-per-second score?

Ordinary clicking with one finger usually lands around 5 to 7 clicks per second. Jitter clicking, where the forearm tenses to vibrate the finger, often reaches 9 to 12, and butterfly clicking with two fingers can go higher. Above about 20 per second the result is more likely a counting or timer problem than a human score, so this page flags it.

Why does my score drop on longer tests?

Forearm and finger muscles tire within seconds at high pace. A 5-second test captures your peak, while a 60-second test averages in the slowdown. Comparing runs is fairer when they share the same length, or when you remember that short windows scale up optimistically.

What does the average gap between clicks mean?

It is the time between consecutive clicks if they were spread evenly: 1000 milliseconds divided by clicks per second. At 10 clicks per second the gap is 100 ms. Real clicking is uneven, so individual gaps vary around this figure.

Does mouse hardware change the count?

It can. Switch debounce settings, polling rate and worn switches that register phantom double clicks all change what a test records. Some games also cap or filter rapid inputs. If two mice give very different scores for the same effort, the hardware or its firmware is part of the difference.

Can I enter a test length that is not a whole number of seconds?

Yes. The length field accepts decimals, so a 7.5-second window or a stopwatch reading such as 12.3 seconds works. The test must last at least 1 second and at most an hour.
