Enter the species base stat, level, EVs, nature effect and the stat the game shows, and the calculator tests every IV from 0 to 31 against the Gen III+ formula. A level 78 Garchomp with base HP 108, 74 HP EVs and 289 HP has an HP IV of exactly 24.

About this tool

Individual values are hidden numbers from 0 to 31 that make two Pokémon of the same species differ. Competitive players and breeders want to know them before investing training time. This calculator checks one stat at a time: it runs the main-series stat formula for every possible IV and lists the ones that reproduce the number on your summary screen. It also shows the stat range from IV 0 to IV 31, so you can see how much room the IV has to move the result. At low levels several IVs often give the same stat, so the answer may be a range rather than one number. The formula covers the main games from Ruby and Sapphire onward; Pokémon GO and Let's Go use different systems and are not handled here.

How to use it

  1. Pick the stat

Choose HP or one of the other five stats; HP uses its own formula and ignores nature.

  2. Set the nature effect

For non-HP stats, mark whether the nature raises, lowers or leaves this stat alone.

  3. Enter base stat, level and EVs

Type the species base stat, adjust the level with the stepper and enter EVs earned in that stat.

  4. Enter the shown stat

Type the value from the summary screen and read the IVs that fit, plus the IV 0 and IV 31 bounds.

Stat shown in game
289

Result Possible IV: 24
IVs that fit: 1
Stat at IV 0: 270
Stat at IV 31: 294
Could be 31: No

  1. EV bonus = floor(74 ÷ 4) = 18
  2. HP = floor((2×108 + IV + 18) × 78 ÷ 100) + 78 + 10
  3. IV 0 gives 270; IV 31 gives 294
  4. IVs that give exactly 289: 24

With 74 HP EVs, only IV 24 lands exactly on 289; IV 23 gives 288 and IV 25 gives 290.

Result Possible IV: 30–31
IVs that fit: 2
Stat at IV 0: 105
Stat at IV 31: 120
Could be 31: Yes

  1. EV bonus = floor(0 ÷ 4) = 0
  2. Stat = floor((floor((2×100 + IV + 0) × 50 ÷ 100) + 5))
  3. IV 0 gives 105; IV 31 gives 120
  4. IVs that give exactly 120: 30, 31

At level 50 each IV point adds only half a stat point, so two IVs share the value 120.

Result Possible IV: 31
IVs that fit: 1
Stat at IV 0: 294
Stat at IV 31: 328
Could be 31: Yes

  1. EV bonus = floor(252 ÷ 4) = 63
  2. Stat = floor((floor((2×100 + IV + 63) × 100 ÷ 100) + 5) × 1.1)
  3. IV 0 gives 294; IV 31 gives 328
  4. IVs that give exactly 328: 31

A raised-nature base 100 stat with full EVs reads 328 only at IV 31; IV 30 shows 327.

How it is calculated

HP = floor((2B + IV + floor(EV ÷ 4)) × L ÷ 100) + L + 10; Other = floor((floor((2B + IV + floor(EV ÷ 4)) × L ÷ 100) + 5) × N)

B

IV
individual value, 0 to 31
EV
effort values in the stat, 0 to 252
L
level, 1 to 100
N
nature multiplier: 1.1, 1.0 or 0.9

Each IV from 0 to 31 is substituted into the formula and the result is compared with the stat you entered. Every division rounds down, and the nature multiplier is applied last and also rounded down, matching the games' integer arithmetic. Every IV whose result equals your stat is reported.

When not to use it

  • Pokémon GO appraisals use a 0–15 IV scale and a different CP formula.
  • Let's Go Pikachu and Eevee add awakening values that this formula omits.
  • Stats changed by held items, abilities or battle boosts will not match.

Common mistakes

  • Reading the stat during battle, where stat stages change the number.
  • Forgetting EVs from battles fought since the Pokémon was caught.
  • Marking the nature as neutral when it actually raises or lowers this stat.
  • Entering the total EVs across all stats instead of the ones in this stat.

Frequently asked questions

Why does the result show a range of IVs?

Below level 100, one IV point adds less than one stat point, and rounding down can map two or more IVs to the same value. At level 50 roughly pairs of IVs collide. Levelling up and checking again narrows the range because the gaps grow with level.

Where do I find a species' base stat?

Base stats are fixed per species and form and are listed in any Pokédex reference, such as Bulbapedia or Serebii. Garchomp, for example, has base HP 108 and base Attack 130. Regional forms and Mega Evolutions have their own values.

What if I do not know the EVs?

A freshly caught or hatched Pokémon has zero EVs, which makes it the cleanest moment to check. After battles, EVs accumulate from defeated Pokémon, vitamins and items, so estimate them or reset them with berries before checking.

Why does HP not ask for a nature?

Natures raise one of Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense or Speed by 10 percent and lower another by 10 percent. HP is never affected, so its formula has no nature term and adds level plus 10 instead of 5.

What does it mean when no IV fits?

No value from 0 to 31 reproduces your stat, which usually points to a wrong input: the nature direction, the EV count, the level or a stat read mid-battle. The error message lists the possible stat range so you can spot which side the mismatch falls on.

Does Hyper Training change the result?

Hyper Training makes the game calculate the stat as if the IV were 31 while the true IV stays hidden. If a stat was hyper trained, this calculator will report 31, which describes the effective stat rather than the original value.
