Your wallet shows this before you confirm; NFT mints often use 100,000 to 250,000.

An NFT mint costs the mint price times the number of tokens, plus the gas fee: gas used × gas price in gwei ÷ 1,000,000,000 gives ETH. Minting 2 NFTs at 0.05 ETH with 150,000 gas at 20 gwei costs 0.1 + 0.003 = 0.103 ETH, or $309 with ETH at $3,000.

About this tool

Collectors comparing a public sale against a later secondary purchase need the full price of a mint, not just the number on the project page. This calculator adds the mint price for every token you take to the network fee for the transaction, then converts the total to US dollars at the ETH price you enter. It also shows the gas in gwei and ETH, the true cost per token once gas is spread across the batch, and how much of the total went to gas. The ETH price and gas price are your inputs, not live figures: during a crowded drop the gas price can move several-fold between reading your wallet and confirming, and a failed transaction still burns the gas it used.

How to use it

  1. Set the quantity and mint price

Use the − and + buttons for the number of NFTs and type the per-token price in ETH; enter 0 for a free mint.

  2. Enter the ETH price

Type the current ETH price in US dollars to see the total and per-token cost in dollars.

  3. Add the gas figures

Copy the gas limit and gas price (base fee plus priority tip, in gwei) from your wallet's confirmation screen.

  4. Read the breakdown

The total in ETH leads, followed by the dollar total, the gas fee, cost per NFT and the gas share.

Examples

Result Total mint cost: 0.103
Total in USD: $309.00
Mint price total (ETH): 0.1
Gas fee (ETH): 0.003
Gas fee (gwei): 3,000,000
Cost per NFT: $154.50
Gas share of total: 2.9%

  1. Mint price total = 2 × 0.05 ETH = 0.1 ETH
  2. Gas = 150000 units × 20 gwei = 3000000 gwei = 0.003 ETH
  3. Total = 0.1 + 0.003 = 0.103 ETH
  4. In USD = 0.103 × $3000 = $309

The mint price is 0.1 ETH and 150,000 gas at 20 gwei adds 0.003 ETH, so the total is 0.103 ETH, about $309 at $3,000 per ETH.

Result Total mint cost: 0.0575
Total in USD: $143.75
Mint price total (ETH): 0.05
Gas fee (ETH): 0.0075
Gas fee (gwei): 7,500,000
Cost per NFT: $28.75
Gas share of total: 13%

  1. Mint price total = 5 × 0.01 ETH = 0.05 ETH
  2. Gas = 250000 units × 30 gwei = 7500000 gwei = 0.0075 ETH
  3. Total = 0.05 + 0.0075 = 0.0575 ETH
  4. In USD = 0.0575 × $2500 = $143.75

Gas of 0.0075 ETH is spread over five tokens, so each NFT really costs $28.75 rather than the $25 sticker price.

How it is calculated

Total (ETH) = Q × P + G × F ÷ 1,000,000,000; Total ($) = Total (ETH) × E

Q
number of NFTs minted in one transaction
P
mint price per NFT in ETH
G
gas units the mint transaction uses
F
gas price in gwei (base fee plus priority tip)
E
ETH price in US dollars

One gwei is one billionth of an ETH, so gas units times gwei divided by a billion gives the network fee in ETH. The fee is charged once per transaction, which is why minting several tokens in one call lowers the gas per token. Since the London upgrade the price per gas unit is the block base fee plus the tip you add; the base fee is burned and the tip goes to the validator.

Sources

When not to use it

  • Do not use it for chains that price fees in another token, such as Solana lamports.
  • It does not model a failed mint, which still pays for the gas consumed.
  • It is not a forecast of what the NFT will be worth after minting.

Common mistakes

  • Entering the base fee alone and forgetting the priority tip in the gas price.
  • Multiplying gas by the number of NFTs when they are minted in a single transaction.
  • Typing the gas fee in gwei into the mint price field, which expects ETH.

Frequently asked questions

Why does gas cost the same for one NFT or five?

Gas is paid per transaction, not per token. A batch mint uses more gas units than a single mint, but usually far less than five separate transactions, so the gas per token drops as the batch grows.

Where do I find the gas limit for a mint?

Your wallet shows an estimated gas limit on the confirmation screen before you sign. Block explorers also list the gas used by earlier mints from the same contract, which is a good guide for the figure to enter.

What is a gwei?

A gwei is 0.000000001 ETH, one billionth of an ether. Gas prices are quoted in gwei because the per-unit numbers are small; 20 gwei per unit across 150,000 units comes to 0.003 ETH.

Does a failed mint cost anything?

Yes. If the transaction reverts, for example because the sale sold out, the mint price is returned but the gas used up to that point is still paid to the network.

Are NFT mints taxable?

The IRS treats NFTs as digital assets. Minting is usually not a sale, but the ETH spent on the mint and gas forms part of your cost basis, which matters when you later sell or trade the token.

Why does the dollar total change if I enter nothing new?

It only changes when you change an input. The ETH price is the figure you type, so update it from your exchange before relying on the dollar figure.
