Type your text and the generator rewrites it in 13 Unicode styles, from bold serif to circled letters. These are real characters, not a font file, so they paste straight into an Instagram bio, name or caption. For example, ABC becomes 𝐀𝐁𝐂 in bold serif, using code points U+1D400 to U+1D402.

About this tool

Instagram gives every profile the same typeface, so creators borrow look-alike letters from Unicode to make a name or bio line stand out. This generator takes what you type and shows it in 13 styles side by side: bold, italic and bold italic serif, bold script, two fraktur styles, double-struck, three sans-serif styles, monospace, fullwidth and circled. Each row lists the counted length, because styled letters take two UTF-16 units and can push a 150-character bio over the limit. Only the basic Latin letters A to Z and digits 0 to 9 have styled versions; punctuation, emoji, accented letters and other scripts stay as typed. Screen readers often read these characters one by one or skip them, so keep key information in plain text.

How to use it

  1. Type your text

Enter a name, bio line or short caption in the box.

  2. Compare the styles

The table shows the same words in 13 Unicode styles, each with its counted length.

  3. Copy your pick

Select the styled text in the row you like and paste it into Instagram.

Examples

Three capitals in bold

Your text
ABC

Result Bold serif version: 𝐀𝐁𝐂
Characters typed: 3
Letters and digits restyled: 3
Styles shown: 13

  1. 3 of 3 characters are A–Z, a–z or 0–9 and get a styled Unicode look-alike.
  2. Each letter is replaced by the matching code point, e.g. A becomes U+1D400 in bold serif; other characters stay as typed.

A, B and C map to the Unicode mathematical bold capitals, which Instagram shows as bold letters in a bio or caption.

A name and a year

Your text
Mia 2024

Result Bold serif version: 𝐌𝐢𝐚 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒
Characters typed: 8
Letters and digits restyled: 7
Styles shown: 13

  1. 7 of 8 characters are A–Z, a–z or 0–9 and get a styled Unicode look-alike.
  2. Each letter is replaced by the matching code point, e.g. A becomes U+1D400 in bold serif; other characters stay as typed.

Seven letters and digits are restyled; the space stays a normal space in every style except fullwidth.

Arabic text

Your text
مرحبا

Result Bold serif version: مرحبا
Characters typed: 5
Letters and digits restyled: 0
Styles shown: 13

  1. 0 of 5 characters are A–Z, a–z or 0–9 and get a styled Unicode look-alike.
  2. Each letter is replaced by the matching code point, e.g. A becomes U+1D400 in bold serif; other characters stay as typed.

Unicode has no styled copies of Arabic letters, so the text passes through unchanged and a note explains why.

How it is calculated

styled code point = style base + (letter position in A–Z, a–z or 0–9)

style base
first code point of the style, e.g. U+1D400 for bold serif capitals
letter position
0 for A, a or 0, up to 25 for Z or z and 9 for 9

Unicode's Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block holds full alphabets in bold, italic, script, fraktur, double-struck, sans-serif and monospace. A few letters were encoded earlier in the Letterlike Symbols block, such as double-struck C at U+2102 and italic h at U+210E, so those are looked up separately. Fullwidth and circled letters come from their own blocks. Characters without a styled copy are left as they are.

When not to use it

  • Avoid styled letters for your username itself, since Instagram handles allow only plain letters, digits, dots and underscores.
  • Skip them for text people need to search or read aloud, such as a business name or contact details.

Common mistakes

  • Counting typed letters against the 150-character bio limit when styled letters may count double.
  • Expecting accented letters like é or emoji to change; only A–Z, a–z and 0–9 have styled forms.

Frequently asked questions

Are these real fonts?

No. They are separate Unicode characters that look like styled letters, mostly from the Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols block. Because they are characters rather than a font setting, they survive copy and paste into apps that do not let you change fonts.

Will the styled text show on every phone?

Current iOS and Android versions display all 13 styles. Older devices or some desktop fonts may show empty boxes for a few characters, most often the bold fraktur and bold script letters.

Why is the counted length longer than what I typed?

Styled letters from the mathematical block sit outside the Basic Multilingual Plane, so each one takes two UTF-16 code units. Some character counters, including many app limits, count those units, so a 100-letter line can register as close to 200.

Do styled letters hurt accessibility?

Often, yes. Screen readers may announce each character by its Unicode name, such as mathematical bold capital A, or skip it. Keep important words in plain text and use styling for a short accent.

Can people find my profile by searching styled text?

Search matches plain letters, so a name written only in styled characters is harder to find. Keep your plain-text name in the Name field and add styling to the bio instead.

Why didn't my Arabic or accented text change?

Unicode only encodes styled copies of the basic Latin letters A to Z and the digits 0 to 9. Arabic, Cyrillic, accented letters, punctuation and emoji pass through unchanged in every style.
