Paste the comments from your giveaway video, one per line as name: comment, set the number of winners, and the picker draws them at random without repeats. With 4 eligible people and 1 prize, each person has a 25% chance. Repeat commenters can be limited to a single entry.

About this tool

Creators running a giveaway on a video need a draw that viewers can trust: every eligible commenter equally likely, nobody counted twice for spamming the thread. This picker takes the comment list you paste or open from a text file, optionally keeps only comments containing a required word or hashtag, collapses repeat commenters into one entry, and draws the winners you ask for without replacement. It shows how many lines were read, how many were dropped and why, and the chance each entry had. It does not connect to YouTube, so you export or copy the comments yourself; replies and hidden comments are only included if you paste them.

How to use it

  1. Paste the comments

One comment per line, ideally as name: comment, or open a .txt or .csv file exported from your channel.

  2. Set the winners

Use the − and + buttons to choose how many prizes to draw.

  3. Apply the rules

Keep One entry per person on to stop repeat commenters gaining extra chances, and type a required word or hashtag if the giveaway asked for one.

  4. Read the draw

The first winner appears on top; the table lists every winner with the comment that qualified them.

Examples

Four commenters, one prize

Comments, one per line
anna: hi ben: me! cara: great video dev: count me in
Number of winners
1
One entry per person
Yes

Result Winner: cara
Lines read: 4
Eligible entries: 4
Repeat entries removed: 0
Missing the keyword: 0
Chance per entry: 25%

  1. 4 non-empty lines read
  2. 0 removed by the keyword filter, 0 repeat entries removed
  3. Chance per entry = 1 ÷ 4 = 25%

Each of the four people has a one-in-four chance, 25%.

Repeat commenters counted once

Comments, one per line
anna: first ben: hello anna: second ANNA: third cara: hi ben: again
Number of winners
2
One entry per person
Yes

Result Winner: cara
Lines read: 6
Eligible entries: 3
Repeat entries removed: 3
Missing the keyword: 0
Chance per entry: 66.67%

  1. 6 non-empty lines read
  2. 0 removed by the keyword filter, 3 repeat entries removed
  3. Chance per entry = 2 ÷ 3 = 66.67%

Anna commented three times and Ben twice, but each person gets one entry, so three people share two prizes.

Only comments with #giveaway

Comments, one per line
anna: #giveaway yes ben: nice cara: in #Giveaway dev: cool eli: #giveaway please
Number of winners
1
One entry per person
Yes
Required word or hashtag
#giveaway

Result Winner: eli
Lines read: 5
Eligible entries: 3
Repeat entries removed: 0
Missing the keyword: 2
Chance per entry: 33.33%

  1. 5 non-empty lines read
  2. 2 removed by the keyword filter, 0 repeat entries removed
  3. Chance per entry = 1 ÷ 3 = 33.33%

Two comments lack the hashtag and are dropped, leaving three entries.

How it is calculated

chance per entry = winners ÷ eligible entries

winners
number of prizes drawn, capped at the number of eligible entries
eligible entries
lines left after the keyword filter and duplicate removal

Each line is split at its first colon into a name and a comment. Lines missing the required keyword (case-insensitive) are dropped, then repeat names are removed if one entry per person is on, keeping the first comment. Winners are drawn one at a time from the remaining entries using the browser's random source, and each drawn entry leaves the pool, so nobody wins twice.

When not to use it

  • Giveaways with legal sweepstakes rules may require an auditable third-party draw.
  • If you cannot export the full comment list, a draw from a partial copy is not fair to the missing entrants.

Common mistakes

  • Copying only the first page of comments, which leaves out late entrants.
  • Forgetting to turn on one entry per person when the rules said one entry each.
  • Typing the hashtag differently from the giveaway post, which filters out valid entries.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get the comments out of YouTube?

Copy them from the video page, or export them from YouTube Studio or a comment export tool, then paste them here or open the saved text file. Each comment should sit on its own line.

Can the same person win twice?

No. Each winner is removed from the pool before the next draw. With one entry per person on, repeat comments by the same name are also merged first, so a heavy commenter has the same chance as everyone else.

What if a line has no name?

A line without a colon in its first 40 characters is treated as one whole entry, and the full line is shown as the winner. That works for lists of usernames only.

Is the keyword filter case-sensitive?

No. #Giveaway, #giveaway and #GIVEAWAY all match. The word can appear anywhere in the comment text, but not only in the name.

What happens if I ask for more winners than entries?

Every eligible entry wins and a warning tells you how many qualified. The chance per entry then reads 100%.

Does the picker send my comments anywhere?

No. The draw runs in your browser and the pasted list is not uploaded or saved by the page.
