Cookie Clicker prestige is the cube root of your cookies baked all time divided by one trillion, rounded down. Level 1 needs 1 trillion cookies, level 20 needs 8 quadrillion, and level 1000 needs 1 sextillion. Ascending pays heavenly chips equal to your new level minus the prestige you already hold.

About this tool

Ascending in Cookie Clicker resets your buildings in exchange for prestige levels and heavenly chips, so the question every run ends with is whether the payout is worth the reset yet. This calculator takes the all-time baked figure from your Statistics menu, with a scale picker so you can type 3.5 quintillion instead of counting zeros, and returns the prestige level that total earns. Add your current prestige and it shows how many new chips an ascension would pay, the all-time total needed for the next level and how many cookies are still missing. Because levels grow with the cube, each further level costs more than the last: going from 1000 to 1001 takes about 3 quintillion extra cookies. The figures follow the standard formula and do not model sugar lumps, seasonal events or modded games.

How to use it

  1. Enter cookies baked all time

Copy the all-time figure from the Statistics menu, not the cookies baked this ascension.

  2. Pick the number scale

Choose trillion, quadrillion or a larger name so the number in the box matches the game's wording.

  3. Add your current prestige

Type the prestige level from the Legacy screen to see how many chips ascending now would add.

  4. Read the next target

The stats show the all-time total for the next level and the cookies still to bake.

Examples

1 sextillion baked, prestige 400

Cookies baked all time
1
Number scale
sextillion
Current prestige level
400

Result Prestige level: 1,000
Heavenly chips if you ascend now: 600
All-time total for the next level: 1.003 sextillion
Cookies still to bake for it: 3.003 quintillion
Max CpS bonus from prestige: 1,000%

  1. Cookies baked all time = 1 sextillion = 1000000000 trillion
  2. Prestige = floor(cube root of 1000000000) = 1000
  3. Heavenly chips from this ascension = 1000 − 400 = 600
  4. Next level 1001 needs 1001³ = 1003003001 trillion cookies

A second ascension: the all-time total reaches level 1000, so ascending now adds 600 heavenly chips.

First ascension at 8 quadrillion

Cookies baked all time
8
Number scale
quadrillion
Current prestige level
0

Result Prestige level: 20
Heavenly chips if you ascend now: 20
All-time total for the next level: 9.261 quadrillion
Cookies still to bake for it: 1.261 quadrillion
Max CpS bonus from prestige: 20%

  1. Cookies baked all time = 8 quadrillion = 8000 trillion
  2. Prestige = floor(cube root of 8000) = 20
  3. Heavenly chips from this ascension = 20 − 0 = 20
  4. Next level 21 needs 21³ = 9261 trillion cookies

8,000 trillion cookies is exactly 20 cubed trillion, so the first ascension pays 20 heavenly chips.

How it is calculated

P = floor( ∛(C ÷ 10¹²) ); chips gained = P − P₀; next level needs (P + 1)³ × 10¹² cookies

P
prestige level earned by the all-time total
C
cookies baked all time, across every ascension
P₀
prestige level you already hold

The game converts lifetime baking into prestige with a cube root on a one-trillion base, so doubling the level needs eight times the cookies. The calculator works in trillions, takes the integer cube root with a check against floating-point error at exact cubes, and subtracts the prestige you already have to get the chips paid by the next ascension. Each level is worth 1% CpS once the matching heavenly upgrades are bought.

When not to use it

  • Modded or fan-made clicker games may use a different prestige curve.
  • It does not plan which heavenly upgrades to buy with the chips.

Common mistakes

  • Entering cookies baked this ascension instead of the all-time total.
  • Choosing the wrong scale, such as quadrillion for a quintillion figure.
  • Expecting the CpS bonus before the matching heavenly upgrades are bought.

Frequently asked questions

How many cookies do I need for my first prestige level?

One trillion cookies baked all time gives prestige level 1. Level 2 needs 8 trillion and level 10 needs 1 quadrillion, because each level costs the cube of its number in trillions.

Why does each new level take longer?

Prestige grows with the cube root of lifetime baking. Going from level 100 to 101 needs about 30 quadrillion extra cookies, while going from 1000 to 1001 needs about 3 quintillion, so later levels stretch out even as your production climbs.

What is the difference between prestige and heavenly chips?

Prestige is the total level your lifetime baking has earned and it never drops. Heavenly chips are the spendable currency; each ascension pays chips equal to the new prestige gained since the last one, which you then spend on heavenly upgrades.

When is a good time to ascend?

A common rule from players is to ascend once a run would roughly double or more your prestige early on, then wait for larger gains later. The chips-gained stat shows exactly what this run adds, so you can compare it with the time a fresh start costs.

How much CpS does prestige add?

Each prestige level adds 1% to cookies per second once the heavenly upgrades that switch the bonus on are bought. A level of 500 therefore means up to +500% CpS, which is why the first few ascensions speed later runs so sharply.

Does the calculator handle very large totals?

Yes. The scale picker reaches octillion, and the box takes figures up to a trillion of the chosen unit, which covers late-game saves well beyond 10^30 cookies.
