Gold per minute is the gold you earned divided by the game time in minutes. 15,000 gold over a 30-minute match is 500 GPM, or 30,000 gold per hour. Enter seconds too: 12,345 gold at 25:30 is 12,345 ÷ 25.5 = 484.1 GPM. Add a gold goal to see how many more minutes that pace needs.

About this tool

GPM is the number MOBA players, MMO farmers and idle-game grinders use to compare one session with another. Scoreboards in Dota 2 show it live, but replays, other games and your own farming routes often only give a total and a clock. This calculator takes the gold earned and the elapsed time in minutes and seconds, then reports gold per minute, per hour and per second, a table of what the same pace yields at minutes 10 through 60, and, if you enter a target, the extra minutes to reach it. It assumes a constant rate; real income usually rises as a match goes on, so projections for late game read low early on and high after a fight-heavy lull.

How to use it

  1. Enter the gold earned

Use total gold gained in the period, not the gold currently in your inventory.

  2. Enter the game time

Type whole minutes and, optionally, the leftover seconds from the match clock.

  3. Add a gold goal if you have one

The tool then shows how many more minutes your current pace needs to reach it.

  4. Read the projection table

It lists the gold that the same rate gives at minutes 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60.

Examples

15,000 gold in a 30-minute match

Gold earned
15000
Game time
30
and
0

Result Gold per minute (GPM): 500
Gold per hour: 30,000
Gold per second: 8.33
Game time used: 30 min
More minutes to reach goal: No goal set

  1. Game time = 30 min + 0 s ÷ 60 = 30 min
  2. GPM = 15000 ÷ 30 = 500
  3. Gold per hour = 500 × 60 = 30000

A typical core end-of-game net income; 500 GPM is a solid carry pace in Dota 2.

12,345 gold at 25:30

Gold earned
12345
Game time
25
and
30

Result Gold per minute (GPM): 484.1
Gold per hour: 29,047
Gold per second: 8.07
Game time used: 25.5 min
More minutes to reach goal: No goal set

  1. Game time = 25 min + 30 s ÷ 60 = 25.5 min
  2. GPM = 12345 ÷ 25.5 = 484.1
  3. Gold per hour = 484.1 × 60 = 29047

Seconds count as a fraction of a minute, so 25:30 is 25.5 minutes.

How long until 20,000 gold

Gold earned
15000
Game time
30
and
0
Gold goal (optional)
20000

Result Gold per minute (GPM): 500
Gold per hour: 30,000
Gold per second: 8.33
Game time used: 30 min
More minutes to reach goal: 10 min

  1. Game time = 30 min + 0 s ÷ 60 = 30 min
  2. GPM = 15000 ÷ 30 = 500
  3. Gold per hour = 500 × 60 = 30000
  4. Minutes to goal = (20000 − 15000) ÷ 500 = 10

5,000 more gold at 500 GPM takes another 10 minutes of the same farm.

How it is calculated

GPM = G ÷ (m + s ÷ 60); minutes to goal = (target − G) ÷ GPM

G
gold earned in the period
m
whole minutes of game time
s
extra seconds of game time
target
the gold total you want to reach

Seconds are converted to a fraction of a minute before dividing, so 25:30 becomes 25.5 minutes. Gold per hour multiplies GPM by 60, and gold per second divides it by 60. The goal estimate divides the remaining gold by the current rate, which assumes your income holds steady from here.

When not to use it

  • Do not use it to predict late-game income from the first few minutes, since farm speed usually climbs.
  • It cannot separate passive gold, kills and creeps; it only sees the total.

Common mistakes

  • Entering current unspent gold instead of total gold earned, which ignores everything already spent on items.
  • Typing 25.30 as minutes for 25:30, when the seconds belong in their own box.
  • Comparing GPM across games whose gold scales differ by orders of magnitude.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as a good GPM in Dota 2?

It depends on role and patch. Hard carries in public matches often land between 500 and 700 GPM, while supports commonly sit at 250 to 350. Professional carries can exceed 800 in a dominant game. Compare against players in the same position rather than the whole lobby.

Why does my calculated GPM differ from the scoreboard?

Scoreboards may include or exclude passive income, starting gold or gold lost on death, depending on the game. If you take the total from a different screen than the one the game uses for its own GPM, the two figures will not match exactly.

Does gold lost on death lower GPM?

In Dota 2 the GPM stat tracks gold earned, so a death that costs gold does not reduce it. If your total comes from net worth or current gold instead, deaths and purchases will skew the result.

Can I use this for MMO or idle game farming?

Yes. Any game currency works: enter what a farming route produced and how long it took. The per-hour figure is usually the easier number to compare routes in MMOs, since sessions run long.

How is the time to a gold goal worked out?

The tool subtracts the gold you already have from the goal and divides the remainder by your current GPM. With 15,000 gold at 500 GPM and a 20,000 goal, the remaining 5,000 takes 10 more minutes.

Why enter seconds separately?

Match clocks read minutes and seconds, and 25:30 is 25.5 minutes, not 25.3. Keeping seconds in their own box avoids that conversion error, which matters most in short games.
